Great sound, then a saloon, then karaoke
When we listed the Annex, we praised the mahogany paneling, the chandeliers and the huge circular banquettes, then saved the best for last: great sound. It was a music venue, and in 2007 it hosted Club NME every Thursday1, 2.
It closed on September 12, 2009, with a final Ruff Club party3. By October the room was the Doghouse Saloon2.
In 2010 the space was set to carry on as a venue, now with a full kitchen4, and in 2011 a new one, Tammany Hall, opened there5. Tammany Hall closed in 20146.
In 2015 Karaoke Boho planned a move from 196 Orchard Street to 152 Orchard, a block and a half away6. It's there now as Karaoke Boho Orchard, renting karaoke rooms7, 8. The room still runs on sound; these days the customers supply it.
