A New York on Tap pick

Pumps Bar

1089 Grand St. · at Metropolitan
Bushwick, Brooklyn

In 2026

Still pouring

Checked October 18, 2026.

Overview

A strip club in the twilight zone where Williamsburg meets Bushwick and Metropolitan and Grand collide. There's no cover and a beer can be had for $4 during happy hour (before 3-6pm). The word gritty doesn't quite do it justice.

History

Three poles, dirt bikes, no cover

In 2016 the stage was a simple set-up behind the bar, three poles in a line, and dirt bikes and mementos from the owner's childhood decorated the walls1. When we listed it, we said the word gritty didn't quite do it justice, and noted there was no cover. When Pumps announced it would fully reopen on July 1, 2021, it was still known for strong drinks and no cover charge2, and it said it would go back to its pre-pandemic hours: 3pm to 4am on weekdays and 4pm to 4am on Saturdays2.
