Overview

A beautiful rustic wine bar frequently all but ruined by obscenely loud music that's so bad, and ill-befitting that it succesfully kills the ambience. Sadly this alone is probably responsible for an older post-frat crowd sharing a common disdain for sophistication.

History

Brick, beams and a little Frenchiness

Jadis has been a Lower East Side wine bar since 2006, the backdrop, as Time Out puts it, for date nights, meet-cutes and boozy self-care sessions1. Our old listing admired the rustic room and could barely hear itself over the music. In 2011 the Lo-Down found it more reserved and more curated than the nearby Ten Bells, praising its "Frenchiness" and its low-key, slightly bohemian romance2. Time Out still calls it cozy, laid-back and bohemian, with exposed brick walls and ceiling beams1.
