80s music and a location convenient to the Holland tunnel bring in a crowd of Jersey kids who were just a glimmer in their parents Apple Pucker martini when many of these tunes were getting radio play.
History
The eighties came back, just not on Varick
The original Culture Club on Varick Street closed in 2007, after what DNAinfo called eight years of "nostalgia, bachelorette parties and girls' nights out"1. Four years later it was back, in a new Midtown location, billing itself as New York's one and only 80s and 90s mega-themed dance club2. In 2024, 179 Varick Street was listed as office space3.
