Overview

Hidden away on the 2nd floor, Uncle Ming's feels like a house party with bathroom lines to match.

History

A house party one flight up

Uncle Ming's was one red-carpeted flight above a liquor store on Avenue B, in a space once used for after-hours gatherings, and its sparse furniture and exposed brick still felt like a friend's flat1. Our old review called it a house party, bathroom lines included. After it came the rock-and-roll attic bar White Noise and then, from September 2012, the cocktail bar Pouring Ribbons, which closed on March 26, 2022, with its lease about to run out2, 3, 4. 11 Tigers, a speakeasy-inspired restaurant with Thai and Japanese influences, has the address now, and most of its cocktails are infused with yadong, a Thai herbal liqueur5, 6, 7.
