Overview
Always crowded, but rarely uncomfortable corner bar provides a welcome respite from the usual SoHo/NoLita pretense.
Some nights the city that never sleeps seems to be in staying in to watch a movie. Maybe it's raining, or it's early in the week, a new moon or a summer weekend when everyone seems to be in the Hamptons, whatever the reason wherever you go it's just dead. It's probably a good night to swing by Spring Lounge. By some strange quirk of dipso-feng-shui this small unremarkable corner bar attracts a decent crowd even on bleakest night.
Why you should go
- Walls of windows, tables to sit at, space to stand, and stools at the bar, make for comfortable (if sometimes cramped) environs.
- The bar service is lightning fast, no matter how crowded.
- A motley crowd of neighborhood locals and tourists who just wandered in walking back from Little Italy keeps things from getting boring.
What you should know
- Avoid the line of tables closest to the bar. When it gets crowded you'll find your shirt will keep the floor from getting wet as people struggle to make their way through with an armful of pints.
- Boddingtons is on draft.
