Overview

For 11 years Rocky Sullivan's was a Grammercy fixture. Now it's moved to this comfortable Red Hook space. Thanks to the craft ale, live music, frequent readings, brick over pizza, and a roof deck it might be even more popular in these new digs than it was in the old ones.

History

From Lexington Avenue to across from IKEA

For a bar, Rocky Sullivan's covered some ground. It began in Manhattan at Lexington Avenue and 29th Street in 1996, and in July 2007 it moved to 34 Van Dyke Street in Red Hook1. We liked the new place, with its craft ale, live music, readings, brick-oven pizza and roof deck, and guessed it might outdraw the old one.

Its last call on Van Dyke Street came on Thursday, October 27, 2016, and the team moved down the street to 44-46 Beard Street, across from IKEA1. Rocky Sullivan's carried on there until December 20242.

Its old home on Van Dyke Street is now Maison Grey, a blank-canvas event venue that turns up on lists of children's birthday party spots in Brooklyn3.
