Overview

There are a lot of great karaoke options in the East Village and then there's Planet Rose. The sound system is sub par, you can wait hours to get your turn, and getting a drink can be as painful as listening to the fifth screaming rendition of Sweet Child O' Mine of the night.

History

Renovated, and still taking requests

Our old listing said the sound was sub par, the wait for the mic ran to hours, and getting a drink hurt as much as the fifth Sweet Child O' Mine of the night. Planet Rose calls itself a family-owned karaoke bar and East Village staple, going for over 20 years¹. In October 2025 it celebrated a fresh renovation², and it's still at 219 Avenue A¹. Whether the renovation reached the sound system, nobody says.
