Overview

Love is the answer to people who say the NYC club scene is dead. This is London style clubbing where the music first and everything else is a distant second. Some of the best DJ talent in the city visits out of respect for that simple principle.

History

Music first, demolition permits last

Our old review held Love up as the answer to anyone who said the city's club scene was dead: London-style clubbing, music first and everything else a distant second. It took a $2 million makeover to turn the space into a house music club called Love, owned by Steve Weber, with one of its entrances at 40 West 8th Street1, 2. In July 2020 full demolition permits were filed for 36-40 West 8th Street, by then two one-story commercial buildings3.
