History
A kick-ass bar, still in the family
In 1995 Iggy Hughes, a fixture of Upper East Side nightlife, opened Iggy's on Second Avenue between 75th and 76th Streets1. He promoted karaoke nights heavily, and locals, professional baseball players, actors and firemen crowded into what quickly became "a kick ass bar"1.
Hughes died suddenly in 20161. The bar carried on, and in 2025 it was still open and owned by his family1.
That year the owners of Iggy's and Ella's teamed up on a spot called El Taco2. Iggy's is still at 1452 Second Avenue, open every day from 1pm to 4am3.
