History
Twenty-five percent off with a Southern ID
This was the original Brother Jimmy's, which opened at 1572 First Avenue in 1988, moved down the block in 1990 and in 2000 settled around the corner on Second Avenue between 77th and 78th1. Time Out filed the chain under faux-thentic Carolina honky-tonks for meat, ball games and blasting tunes, and at this flagship a Southern ID got you 25 percent off on Wednesdays2. By December 2016 Ziggy's, a seafood-focused Mexican place with tiki torches and a wall-mounted marlin, had taken over a former Brother Jimmy's BBQ space on the Upper East Side, with Brother Jimmy's owner James Goldman among the partners3. Ziggy's has since closed too3.
