History

Four decades of whoever's got the mic

At Brandy's, as Time Out put it in 2025, the room and the bar are both utilitarian, and it's all about the piano and whoever's got the mic¹.

Designed by the Canadian architect George F. Pelham, the building at 235 East 84th Street went up in 1907, replacing three-story brownstones². Brandy's dates to 1979². In 2019 the piano bar celebrated its 40th anniversary².

It still showcases live talent there every night³. Happy hour runs from 4 to 8:30 pm, and the music from 9:30 pm to 3 am³.
