History
Permanently closed, temporarily
Bar Veloce began on Second Avenue in the East Village before spreading to Chelsea, Soho and Columbus Circle1. In 2010 Time Out found the Seventh Avenue bar roomier than the original, with most small plates under $8 and a pressed sandwich of grappa-soaked apples, speck and Taleggio2. During the pandemic, owner Frederick Twomey reportedly kept every Bar Veloce in the city closed, and by February 2021 The Infatuation had marked the Chelsea bar permanently closed, a flag it still shows3, 4, 5. It was open again by November 2021, and the bar's own site still lists it at 176 Seventh Avenue in 20263, 6, 7.
