Overview

Every new club makes a claim to the crown - the most lavish, most exclusive, celeb heavy scene in NYC. Investors need to believe it. Promoters need to sell it. And the punters need to feel they got their bottle money's worth. The thing with 1 Oak is it might just have the chops to make the hype a reality.

History

It made the hype a reality

Every new club claims the most exclusive, most famous room in New York; 1 Oak's crowd actually included Rihanna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Nas X1. It opened on West 17th Street in 2007, with Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano among its founders2.

It closed in March 2020, at the start of the pandemic, and never reopened there1. On October 20, 2022, a city marshal evicted it from 453 West 17th Street, and court records showed almost $1.8 million in back rent3. Even then, a lawyer for Akiva said he still hoped to reopen3.

In September 2026 the name came back briefly: 1 Oak threw a temporary pop-up party during New York Fashion Week to tease its return, and said it was aiming to reopen officially in February2.
