History
Still a burger bar, minus the kilt
Piper's Kilt, known across Northern Manhattan for its signature burgers, spent 28 years at 4946 Broadway, where another Irish pub, McSherry's, had been before it1. It closed on September 5, 2016, and longtime owner Carol McKenny, who planned to retire, sold the business to Niall Henry and Shean Carbin, who run Tryon Public House1. They meant to keep much of the old pub's character under a new name, and the space is now Tubby Hook Tavern, known for its burgers and a sister restaurant of Tryon Public House1, 2.
