History

Tapas behind medieval-style doors

We once summed up Beast in two words: tapas bar. It sat at 638 Bergen Street, at Vanderbilt Avenue, behind distinctive medieval-style doors, and it closed them for good in April 20141. Its owner and chef, Debra Bicknese, said the closing was voluntary1. The corner is now The Nuaa Table, a Thai restaurant; when Gothamist wrote it up as new in 2021, it called the spot the former home of the popular Beast2, 3.
