History
Founded by musicians, still booking bands
Abdel and Sivan Ouedraogo, he from Burkina Faso and she from Israel, opened Shrine in 2007 as a multimedia arts and culture venue1. Its own page puts the founders more simply: musicians and music lovers "in the music capital of Harlem, USA"2. In 2011 one couple owned both Shrine and Yatenga3.
We listed it as Shrine Bar Restaurant. It still books bands at 2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, where performers now bill it as Shrine Music World or just The Shrine4, 5.
