History
Cheers-like, with a LaFrieda burger
White Star calls itself a casual neighborhood American restaurant and craft cocktail bar, and it claims Jersey City's best burger, made with prime Pat LaFrieda meat on Balthazar bread1. In 2020 Hoboken Girl found it Cheers-like, with servers who knew many customers by name, and noted that it came from the same owners as Mathews and had a second location at 179 Warren Street2. That July, with outdoor dining the only way to eat in, it set plenty of tables out on its full patio2. It's still at 230 Brunswick Street, with reviews into 20252, 3.
