History

Time Out's verdict on Time Out: sleek yet cozy

The lounge sat inside New World Stages, the theater complex at 340 West 50th Street^{1, 2, 3}. Our old listing shuddered to think what cutting commentary Time Out New York's own reviewers would have for the place. Time Out's listing, filed under the bar's new name, The Green Room, called it a "sleek yet cozy bar" and "an outgrowth of the all-powerful Time Out New York media empire"³. From October 2016 to March 2020 it was home to The Imbible: A Spirited History of Drinking, and it's still the complex's bar and lounge, downstairs, where drinks can be carried into the theaters^{4, 5}.
