History
A Leitrim family's pub, now with screen credits
John and Margaret Mulligan, 1950s immigrants from County Leitrim, opened the pub's doors on Katonah Avenue in 1977, and it has been a family-owned business since1.
The pub has a screen career on the side: it was a location for The Hoax, with Richard Gere, in 2006 and for God's Pocket, with Philip Seymour Hoffman, in 20141.
On March 16, 2020, Mulligan's, like all of New York's bars and restaurants, had to close its doors suddenly1. With help from the Barstool Fund, it was set to stay open well into the future1, and by 2022 it was back on camera, when Law & Order: SVU filmed an episode there2.
Mulligan's Fireside Pub is still at 4272 Katonah Avenue, open Tuesday through Sunday from 2pm to 2am3.
