History

Named for Jack, still on Skillman

Jack, the late father of the McGowan family, opened The Firewater Inn in 1986¹. It closed for renovation after St. Patrick's Day in 2011 and reopened in March 2013 as Jack's Sunnyside Ale House, renamed by the family in his honor¹. It's now Jack's Fire Department, at 39-46 Skillman Avenue, family owned and operated since 1986, so the fire found its way back into the name².
