The check-cashing store that learned to pour
The bar's own site says you'd never guess the space once housed a check-cashing store, or that the bar only opened in late 20031. When we listed it, we credited its soft lighting, wood and exposed brick with a warm, welcoming room. It's still at 68 Jay Street, open daily from three in the afternoon until midnight, with happy hour until seven on weekdays1, 2.
