History
From busboy to owner in 28 years
A New York City firefighter named Joe Donovan, with his father's help, bought the Clover Leaf Bar in 1966, and Donovan's came to life1.
On January 20, 2013, new owners took over, on what the pub notes was coincidentally the feast day of St. Sebastian1. They were Jacobson, who had been there 28 years, first as a busboy in high school and then as a bartender, and his brother-in-law Dan Connor1. Not many busboys end up with the keys.
It's still at 57-24 Roosevelt Avenue2. We filed it under Sunnyside; its own site says Woodside2. We'll defer to the house.
