History

Heavy metal, downstairs from the pasta

Three of Cups opened on First Avenue at Fifth Street in December 1992¹. Its lounge was the surprise: in our day we called it a sexy subterranean metal den in an unlikely space beneath the Italian restaurant upstairs. The restaurant and the lounge closed together after service on Sunday, April 1, 2018¹; the announcement said, "I can't sustain it any longer"¹. In July 2018 Emmy Squared opened at 83 1st Avenue, part of the retail condominium space at 83-85^{1, 2}.
