History

Rimmed with Pixie Stix dust

Stir was a sleek First Avenue lounge that, in New York magazine's words, vamped it up in a faceless desert of bland doorman buildings, with plush cube-shaped furniture, candlelit tables and Latin tunes or old Cure songs on the sound system1. The drink the magazine singled out was strawberry Stoli with crushed strawberries and cranberry juice, in a glass rimmed with Pixie Stix dust, and its website advertised free Sex and the City trivia and a Wednesday ladies' night1, 2. By 2015 its web address was up for rent, and by 2018 New York magazine's listing said simply that the venue was closed3, 4.
