History

The Burroughs bar that became a deli

Naked Lunch took its name from William S. Burroughs' novel, a theme once carried by scattered old books and ancient ceiling fans, and smartly dressed twenty- and thirty-somethings packed it till the wee hours1. It closed by January 2014, to be replaced by the Regent Cocktail Club, a Soho branch of the classic cocktail bar LDV Hospitality had opened in Miami's Regent Hotel2, 3. Two years on, that didn't appear to be happening; the space at Grand and Thompson became a deli after all, opening as Soho's Finest Market in June 2016, and the market is still there3, 4, 5, 6.
