History
Disco club turned Rock Capital of Brooklyn
The Rock Capital of Brooklyn, as L'Amour was billed1, opened in 1978 as a disco club1. It went rock in 19811.
On April 9, 1983, Metallica played their last show with Dave Mustaine there1. On May 8, 1988, Iron Maiden played a concert there as Charlotte and the Harlots1.
It closed in February 2004, after several attempts to revive it with smaller rooms1. That didn't stop us from listing it.
A new L'Amour ran on Staten Island from April 2006 to December 20091. Back on 62nd Street, NY1 reported in February 2026 that little remains of the roaring music scene that once filled the old warehouse2.
