Overview
The soft lighting, wall to wall red velvet, and nudes on the wall, may lead you to believe this is a different type of strip house. But here it's about the steak and the flavor is positively pornographic.
The Striphouse serves up gigantic steaks, luscious side dishes of stuffed heirloom tomatoes, herbed French fries and goose-fat potatoes against a backdrop of an offbeat, eye-popping décor. The soft lights, the nudes on the walls, and the deep burgundy color scheme all combine to give the Striphouse a "distinctive" atmosphere, but the food is the main attraction—simple, elegant and delicious.
Why you should go
- You love a good steak. A meat eating creature of habit, you’re a fan of Musso & Frank’s in LA, Peter Luger’s, Spark’s and Keen’s in New York. The Striphouse offers you something fresh and different, but with the same quality and taste.
- Good for taking friends from out of town or for aspecial occasion. The Striphouse steak never fails to impress.
- The steaks are highest quality, the chocolate cake is uncommon.
What you should know
- There isn’t much about the seating that can be called intimate or romantic—tight with only a few booths.
- The faux Playboy decor and the female nudes on the walls will do little to impress your female date.
- The service is old school which here means barely civil old men, but it can be smooth and quick during peak hours.
- The a’ la carte menu is pricey, but the prix fix dinner before 6pm is a
bargain at $49. - A steak ordered medium here seems to err toward crispness. Not a bad thing, but can lead to disappointment for the “show me the blood” crowd.
- The goose fat potatoes and the creamed spinach are rare enjoyments.
