History
The oldest bar in Gowanus, since 2005
A neighborhood guide calls it the oldest bar in Gowanus, open since 2005, which says as much about Gowanus as about the bar1. It's still at 270 Third Avenue with a pool table, a vintage jukebox, $5 beer and closing time at 4 in the morning1. A September 2026 visit found dive-bar maximalism: dark wood, Christmas lights and Chicago sports flags draped across the walls and ceiling2. Somewhere along the way, as Vice reported with an exclamation point, they painted flames on a dead shark3.
