History

Last call came early on a Wednesday

The All State Café opened in 1968 at 250 West 72nd Street as W. M. Tweeds1, 2. Following the murder of Roseann Quinn, it took a new name1.

It closed early one Wednesday morning in October 2007, another New York establishment done in by rising rents1. Thirty-nine years, and the rent still got the last word1.

By December 2025 the address belonged to the Emerald Inn, which was about to shutter3. Next up is Joe Kidd Cantina, a bar and restaurant, which had its signage up by August 2026 and was set to open in October4.
