History
Eight ball in a former sanitation garage
The Bayside Billiards Cafe opened in 1992 on the site of a former Sanitation Department garage, a family business from the start1, 2. In the fall of 2002, after a $500,000 renovation, owner Telly Hatzigeorgiou renamed it Slate, with slate floors, a fireside lounge, 27 new pool tables and a 50-foot glass-topped bar that constantly changed color1, 2. Five years later it was redesigned again, and on June 27, 2007, it celebrated its reopening as Cue Bar with an open bar2. Cue Bar is still at 45-18 Bell Boulevard, now with 21 pool tables and two ping-pong tables, and in 2026 Queens voted it the borough's best pool hall3.
