Overview

A family run bar since the 60's.

History

Sixty years, then a shorter name

Danny McNulty acquired the bar and restaurant in 1960, and Kathleen McNulty ran the business from 19861, 2. We knew it as a family-run bar.

In May 2020 the Irish Cottage, around for 60 years, announced it would close on May 72. Kathleen McNulty had died in April of complications from COVID-19, and her sons decided to close, saying takeout would not sustain the business2.

An Ecuadorean and his wife, Yadira, later reopened it as a restaurant, and it was eventually granted a liquor license, though he had to change the name to The Cottage for legal reasons1. The Cottage restaurant bar is at 108-07 72nd Avenue now, and a listing still files it under Irish pub3.
