History

Go-go dancers and a Seven and Seven

In 2010 Time Out found Mermaids under the elevated subway in Astoria, part cabaret, part go-go bar, part sports bar, and "not a gentleman's club per se, but the atmosphere might suggest otherwise"1. Dancers took the narrow stage in the middle of its circular oak bar to Greek and Latin music, and the drinks Time Out called "strong, high-priced cocktails" ran to a Seven and Seven or a rum and Coke1. A visitor's report from September 2025 still had Mermaids at 31-06 31st Street1, 2.
